I have a 1.9na in my '82 pickup and with a little work, that thing is quite the engine. 
You need to open up the intake and exhaust, bump up the timing and fueling a little and 
it'll light up the tires no problem.  And it is a simple engine, no electronics, computer, 
  etc.
