  My 914 would only do its advertised top speed (114mph?).
That was with a 1.7 carefully tuned, high tire pressure, fairly 
fresh, seated rings and heads on a 130K mile engine and a 
long, straight stretch.  Pretty good coeficient car too.  
  I'd hoped it'd do better but I was happy it at least did 
advertised speed.  Did better for mpg than those early 
epa specs that were almost always higher than real world.  :-)
