[Vwdiesel] Coughing rabbit

I've had this problem several times.  I've had it when new (rebuilt)
injectors failed.  And I've had it when something is wrong with the
timing.  I can't say what the  problem might be in your case...I just
thought I'd share what my previous experiences were.

In your case, I would also suspect sticking rings, and ask how the 
compression varies.  400 as I recall, is on the low side.  

Does the engine improve as it warms up?
