That is awesome!
Just yesterday I was having a discussion with a couple friends while riding in his Jetta TDI...
We had each read an article in Time about how bad corn-based ethanol was for the environment, when you consider that forests, especially the Amazon in Brazil are being cut down to either grow corn, and/or to grow crops that are being displaced by farmers that have switched to the subsidized corn for ethanol.
I generally think it is a bad idea to burn up food and drive up food prices for everyone. If it is somehow extra that would be one thing, but replacing food crops for fuel crops seems silly to me.
Anyway, I was telling them about the algae biofuel industry. From what I've read, with algae, you can get quite a lot more fuel from a much smaller area of land, not displacing food crops.
I commented that the only reason I liked the idea of growing corn for biofuel was because I think the general interest in biofuels from the general public would in the end help out this fledgling industry. We can switch over from turning corn into fuel and go to turning algae into fuel.
It is good to see that there are so many people working on it.

thought this may be of some interest to y'all
Didn't think the green revolution would be quite so slimy and smelly?
Might have to rethink that...
