Just a question, On my '86 na with a/c, the small line from the
radiator to the recovery tank always has a good amount of coolant flow
going through it. Being that it's in the upper radiator hose and under
under a flow condition due to the main hose I can understand why it is.
On my '85 jetta that I just got there isn't a whole lot of flow
going through that small hose. The jetta doesn't have a/c and that
little hose comes off the side of the radiator like a more traditional
overflow tube on say a chevy.
It puts out good heat when you slide the temp controller over and
the temp doesn't rise very quickly as I would suspect a bad water pump
would cause it too. Is there a way to test whether the water pump is
bad without ripping it all apart ?
