Does anyone have any ideas as to why I cannot adjust the heater/AC controls on my 1981 VW pick-up. When I try to adjust from vent to floor or from vent to defrost the air always blows out the vent. My vaccum pump is pulling a good vaccuum.

Yes, that's correct. They are completely interchangable. And, yes, the
manual adjuster is quite a bit cheaper.

Gradually working on my '82 Quantum turbodiesel. Took it for a drive today
& it did not heat up. Replaced the coolant recovery container. Probably need
to replace the thermostat & possibly the water pump, for good measure since
I have already bought them.
A couple more questions. How do you adjust the clutch? I have to push it down
to the floor. Also, how do you bypass that stupid interlock that requires you to
push down on the clutch before the starter engages. I have to push the clutch to
the floor real hard to get the starter to engage. I can probably find the
answers in the Bentley but perhaps you can save me some time & tell me where
to look.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I just got back from 400 miles to the Outer Banks, NC, OBX
Saw diesel in the Delmarva peninsula going down to Chesapeake bay bridge from
mainly 4.19 to 4.05 cheapest. I only got the 4.19, not lucky enough to time it
right for the 4.05 a gal.
