You can set up an electric car to win a drag race, from what I have read. What has killed the electric car is a lack of range. The ill fated GM EV-1 (Who Killed the Electric Car?) failed due to insufficient range. One hundred miles under ideal conditions before needing an 8 hour recharge (lead acid batteries). Could be as low as 40 miles if you drove at night with the A/C or heater on. Once battery technology evolves to where affordable batteries with a range of at least 200 miles & the ability to recharge in less than 10 minutes along with the infrastructure for this, will electric cars become practical for other than short distance city commuting.
I would suggest that other posters say where they live. Some do & others don't. Weather has a big effect on many of the problems as weather conditions which affect vehicle operation & problems vary considerably from Alaska, Seattle, UK, & Calif.
