Yep, I know the wire is in the fender, but doesn't it go into the engine
compartment first and then through the firewall? I could be confused. If it
goes straight through the side of the car behind the fender then it's a
possibility.

Nope. I sealed the WHOLE thing - both the glass side and metal side of the
rubber gasket. I got desperate. That said, this silicone will actually peel
off by hand if you pull hard enough. (It's a little hard, but it's not like
you have to sit there and scrape it off bit by tiny bit.)

Yes, I have thought of that. And the windshield is cracked, but I'm just not
sure if I want to do it. I'll have to price it out in the summer when I feel
like messing with it.
