Refinery of origin may be the reason.  Our road diesel in SK has been 
like that for years- and it mostly comes through the Federated refinery 
in Regina.  Color changed quite some time ago after the first reduction 
in sulphur levels, but yeah, it used to be a straw color, and that was 
pretty much universal.  I suspect your station's supplier got some from 
out this way, when it usually comes from?? south or east maybe.
