[Vwdiesel] stalling, lack of power

  If you have vacuum in the tank then you'll hear a WHOOOOSH 
when you remove the cap to fill up.  Could be part of the pickup 
in the tank.  On the '97 Passat there's a boot on a tube in there.
I think it was on the return.  It'd slipped off.  That'd let air in 
back through the return side.
