HP is a calculation not a measurement !!

   Torque IS Horsepower, follow along...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horsepower

For a given torque, the equivalent power may be calculated. The standard
equation relating torque in foot-pounds, rotational speed in RPM and
horsepower is:

simply    ( ft.lbs  x rpm ) /   5252   = HP

since 5252 is a constant (never changes), you could remove it for clarity in
understanding that

   touque x rpm  = HP

but still for a given rpm of any engine (or different engines at the same
rpm) you could remove RPM which leaves

 TORQUE   =   HP
HP in the usual graph format is a calculation of the torque over an rpm
range,  NOT a mesurement.

Yes you CAN have Torque without RPM, but you can't have RPM WITHOUT torque!
