Wouldn't that 5-speed be a great car with the turbo diesel Audi imported to North America in 1983? Wonder if that combination could be arranged.

way back in 88 and it sounds like it was in about the
shape your car is in NOW. It had 225K when I got it,
I dropped a new junkyard motor in it with more
compression then what I had, but the injection pump
started to go and electrical starting issued killed
the car.
Tons of work to put new rings on and take the head off
again to get the valve to seat properly.
Sounds like it was just not seated properly, which can
happen when doing a head for the first time.
Didn't Loren help you out with this head, could be a
bad valve or valve seat needs ground.
Hey, be proud of what you have done so far, really.
Any, you learned a lot along the way.
