 Hey all,
  I just bought a 1.6L turbo diesel for $260. Which is a good price? I
think. No obvious damage but it is in pieces, so, who knows really. That's
the good news, the bad is that I'm moving back to CA fm MA in July so I'll
have some extra weight to carry with me on my trip. I'll be driving the 80
pickup w a 1.6na on that journey.
  Update on my fuel starvation problem: The guilty culprit was the
water/fuel separator.  It started leaking,so as a quick and dirty fix, my
mechanic removed it and plumbed my fuel line directly fm the tank. So now
the engine no longer starves for fuel when the gauge gets down below half.
I'd put a new one in but I'm selling the car and I'll leave that bit of
maintenance for the new owner to do.
Doesn't the fuel filter under the hood also have a water/fuel separator?
