[Vwdiesel] Engine won't turn off?

Thanks all,

I pulled the solenoid out and it was all grimy and sticky.  Cleaned it 
with brake clean (plunger and inner shaft of solenoid), checked that it 
moved freely and it seems to have done the trick.
