[Vwdiesel] 81 Rabbit w/ a fever

I would wonder if you have a head gasket leak, which may have aggrivated
the heater core leak by overpressurizing the system.

As you do the repairs, I would look for any cyl head problems.
There are chem test kits which look for combustion by products.
When I've had a problem it has been obvious, and I've had overheat
problems.
