[Vwdiesel] Noisy Speedo

My speedo started making intermittent noise today.  It'd squeal for a few seconds then stop.  Then it might go for several minutes quietly then squeal again.  

I was wondering if there was any recommend lube for the cable, and if the speedo could be lubed as well.
