Bill, Have you had the radiator checked to make sure the flow is correct in it. My car overheated when I bought it so I rebuilt the engine and replaced the radiator and it still overheated. I put a larger engine in and replaced the new radiator as it was determined the baffle was out of the radiator and it wasn't flowing across the radiator but rather in the top and out the bottom and the fan switch never came on. With a new radiator it did the same thing and it also had the radiator baffle missing. The radiator guy put one in that one and it works great now. My engine would do what yours is did (only it was a rabbit) on that it would be boiling the coolant. The fan never came on, I replaced the thermistate with a 160 degree one and replaced the fan switch and checked both before installing. I even hotwired the fan to turn on with a manual switch. Nothing worked untill I swapped the radiator from my rabbit truck in to the car and it worked. Hope this helps. I know that radiators are expensive but get it checked out by a radiator person to see if it is flowing correctly and it will save you in the long run.
Travis G.
