The oil company record profits were all reported in the same quarters 
that they reported record sales volumes. There is no "gouging" taking 
place, there is no conspiracy, except the conspiracy of idleness and 
apathy and resistance to personal sacrifice that keeps so many people in 
houses and vehicles they cannot and even /could not originally/ afford. 
The Conspiracy of "keeping up with the neighbors" and living visibly 
large, of appearing prosperous through the car you drive, the clothes 
you wear and the house you bleed yourself dry every month to pay for. 
The conspiracy of vanity, to be brief.
