[Vwdiesel] Ignition switch

  Probably the same as an A1.  Just looked and it is.  You have to 
pull the steering wheel, switches, covers and lock assy.  Then drill 
a small hole 10mm from the ridge near the bottom or top where the 
part # is.  The other dim on the hole is 12mm down from the top of 
the casting (top being where the key goes in).  The casting, not 
the lock cylinder. Use a 3.0mm bit.  ('85 manual doesn't say anything,
just a pic) but I think then there's a release button you push.  I 
also believe the key must be in  the cylinder.
