Add Diesel #1 (aka kerosene). How much depends upon the grease base of your BD and the temps. For canola based BD, 33% D1 is good to about 0F. With peanut or palm oil or animal fats, you will prbably need higher amounts.
Best to mix up a cupful or two of the BD in question at some percentage D1 and put it in a freezer. Wait 8 hrs or so and you'll have a good idea what your tank and fuel lines will be line in the cold.
FWIW, I gave up a source of some very clean peanut oil, because it required too much D1 to be usable in the winter in Colorado.> From: photobug1 at hotmail.com> To: vwdiesel at vwfans.com> Date: Fri, 24 Oct 2008 17:54:35 -0500> Subject: [Vwdiesel] Help! Indiana has suddenly plummetted and biodiesel gells up when the temp drops into the 30's here. What can I add to the biodiesel to keep it from gelling...even below zero??? >
