[Vwdiesel] More Quantum Questions?

Just curious, have you tried to locate a radiator locally?  I was able to
get one for my 91 jetta for a few dollars over online. The added benefit is
if it doesn't fit or has issues then you can take it back without  having to
deal with shipping.

Also find the gage that you want then search online for that exact gage. I
have found some that way online cheaper than at Summit or other sources. One
I got on Ebay for way less brand new. I guess I was the only one wanting
that particular gage at the time.

Used the Quantum today for several local errands. Towards the end of the
day, outside temperature in the middle to high 90s F., the temperature gage
started to from the half way mark to over 3/4ths even though the trip was
down hill. When I got home I found both fans were running at full speed
which suggests to me that the temperature sensors are working as they
should. Temperature from my laser remote temperature sensing unit showed 210
F entering the overflow reservoir. The right side fan stopped running
shortly after I stopped the Quantum but the left one kept running  & later
slowed down in speed.
Am thinking of buying a new radiator but before doing so, any other source
of overheating. However, I will take one of the other poster's advice &
order locally. The www.carpartswholesale.com has again canceled the radiator
order. I probably will give them a negative feedback for continued
advertising they can't deliver so they can bait & switch to a higher priced
radiator.
I also agree with another poster that we should reply publically rather than
with private answers on these technical questions so that others can benifit
from the dialogue.
Eventually, I intend to add 5 extra gages in the front center cubbyhole of
my Quantum. I would like to add the following: boost gage, pyrometer, oil
pressure, extra temperature gage, & voltmeter. Would like to get matching
gages. Will check Summit racing, JC Whitney. Any other suggestions?
