[Vwdiesel] More Quantum Questions

Yes, that temp reading is normal. Those years, VAG products had true gauges,
not the dummy ones we have today.

I've never done a clock repair/interchange either, but like Mark said, if it
fits, it should work. I usually am replacing with a tach ;-)

As for the maintenance, if it runs and works fine, it should be alright. I
don't exactly change mine very often (probably 10K on average) but I have
another reason. Typical of a mechanic, I don't want to work on mine at the
end of the day. However, routinely checking all fluids is a very good idea.
That's more than often the reason for a dead engine. I don't think I've seen
too much evidence of long oil changes having disastrous results. More engine
wear, obviously, but nothing catastrophic. However, I have seen plenty
blown/rattling from a lack of oil.
