[Vwdiesel] Head gasket question

  You could have the head pressure tested.  It's probably not the 
problem though.  As it appears, the problem went away for a short 
time with the new gasket.  
  If it's in question then a new head would be the best thing.  We 
did a new one on Dad's pickup ('85 TD engie).  Power went up and 
EGT went down.  No reason I know of but it made a big difference.
This place has a really good price on a head.  It appears to have 
seats and guides so you'd need to transfer your valves, cam, 
tappets, etc.  Might want to do new exhaust valves too.  
  It says it's not a TD head but I don't think you can buy a "new" 
head that is designated as a TD head.  They work fine though.
