[Vwdiesel] Steering wheel shaft bearing

Thank you all for the advice. It's funny, cause when I was under there
I thought about just a quick fix like you all have suggested, but I
figured that there would be a better way to do it. I still have a
plastic ring down there, but I don't know if it's still the whole
piece, or if part of it has deteriorated. It doesn't seem to want to
hold the bearing in, but I might be doing something wrong. It's nice
to hear that just keeping it up there with whatever I can find will
work.
And yes, for some reason I don't have any problem sitting upside down
in the seat at all! It's always seemed kinda weird to me, and I bet it
looks funny, but sometimes it's so much easier to be upside down in a
car when working under the dash.
