Mark Shepherd, thank you very much for your reply & picture. I found the right spot & installed the new speedometer cable in minutes. Why I couldn't see it before, I don't know. Now another question: 
The open hole about 2 o'clock from the oil filter/oil cooler housing. What is the purpose of that hole? To add oil to the transaxle? A breather? I don't think it should be open, should it? I plan to drain the transmission, replace it with Amsoil synthetic gear lube as I suspect with that opening, the current gear lube has been contaminated, & close the opening with a cork. Other suggestions, if any, appreciated.
