The 11mm pump from the automatics is considered a performance upgrade for the manual cars. With this IP plus larger injectors, you can make a bunch more power. I believe the euro spec 110hp TDI was the same ALH we got except with the 11mm pump and .205 injectors.
And yes, the belt change was more frequent on the autos. I think now the newer belts/tentioners go for 60K miles on the autos
