[Vwdiesel] 2001 Golf intermittent blinker

hey all
I tried the contact-cleaner-into-the-stalk trick
no difference
I still get blinkers and hazards mostly stuck 'on'
if I fiddle with the hazard switch/blinker stalk enough I can
sometimes 'reset' it so I get blinking again, but seems to last only
until I signal to the RIGHT
than back to solid on
I tried disassembling hazard switch - not much to take apart - sprayed
some cleaner in the back
still no change
any other ideas?
this is preventing me getting inspected
thanks!
