[Vwdiesel] Help!

I have a Bentley manual for reference.
but I can't find the flywheel TDC mark on the  my 1.6L through the 'screw'
cover .

This was running engine when I drove it into the garage.
I resealed the IP and put it back on started it up, ran and idled fine.

Finally got my dial indicator in and was going to fine tune the setting.
'pinned' the pump and camshaft and looked in the plug hole nothing there.
I figured since it ran fine the mark would have to be 'right there'

Popped the camshaft gear loose, turned the engine (after removing the IP
pin) at least 45 degrees each
direction and looked for the 'mark' on the flywheel as pictured in the
bentley.

NOTHING !?!?!
Is there a chance that it is not marked???
Is there some other method?
