[Vwdiesel] More Quantum Questions?

I do this myself, but it would be even better as a two person job. I loosed
up the nut on the IP gear a turn or so, not far, and then have the
combination of a pry bar pulling the gear away from the pump while I tap on
the nut with a hammer. (I either just give firm raps with my 4lb sledge, or
I whale on it with my rubber mallet - I prefer being under more control with
the sledge.) It usually doesn't take more than a few raps to knock it free.
But just using the hammer doesn't seem to work, and just pulling on it takes
a *LOT* of pulling. This seems to be a good compromise, and I've never
damaged a gear by doing it. Once it pops off, just loosen the nut and you're
good.
