[Vwdiesel] hood latch difficulties

Yeah, the grill is pulled currently, as I didn't want to break another one while messing with this.
The cable isn't preloaded on something. I just replaced it, as the old sheath was worn out. The clip on the core support is missing, so I'm trying out zip ties. They don't work too well. ;-)
The real problem with the latch is it feels really loose, like the pieces that are supposed to clip together have loosened up over time. You can reach in there and work a lot of the latch back and forth.
When I get home tonight, I'll try lubing it up really good and see if I can free the spring/latch bit some more.
