Correct about the GP monitoring, at least for 2001 models - they switched to
a 4 wire harness in 02 or 03.
Just to be clear - the CEL code was cleared/reset after the harness was
replaced? Cuz it won't clear itself...
Technically the GPs do impact emissions, at least during startup and cold
running.
If the GPs all test approximately the same resistance and the harness is
known good w/no corrosion, the next step would be replacing the relay, which
is a little spendy.
*Theoretically* you could electrically tie together the two wires of the GP
harness, rendering the 'test' always successful... however this is just
theory, I've never heard of anyone actually trying it. Assuming the
inspector doesn't notice/mind your splice job, all should be well. That is
except in the unlikely case that there is in fact something wrong with your
relay, and making this mod might cause an overload/fire hazard condition.
ABS issue: to answer your question - doubt it. However I'd bet your issue
is 'crud' in one of the ABS sensors at the hub. I watched a guy do a
big-brake upgrade at a GTG last summer and you'd be surprised how much crap
builds up back there. I wouldn't be surprised if the computer stores which
sensor is the issue, which would at least narrow things down.
