  I figured it saved money by only sending one line to the rear 
instead of two as well as only one brake pressure regulator. 
Of course we can't just SIZE the MC pistons to give the needed 
balance!
  I've never had a system partially fail but I'd suspect that when one 
circuit of a diagoal system fails, although it SEEMS like it'd brake 
strangely, you still have one front brake (strong) and one opposite, 
rear to balance out the pull.  Lose both fronts and I'd guess it'll 
stop slower but it may not since they've gone to the front/rear 
setup.
