I have a GAST vane vacuum pump from a 1960's AMPEX proffessional Video Tape
Recorder I use with a 1 Gal pickle jar that came full of Jalapenos at a fast
food restaurant. Soldered the barbs in tho the lid.

Pump draws a modest, regulated, adjustable vacuum that won't cave in the jar.

I use this for a lot of things. Sucking the oil out of the lawn mower,
removing the gas from small engines like the mower, snow blower, lawn
tractor before inverting same for repairs, etc.

Also useful in my veggie oil "'lab" .

An old propane BBQ or refrigerant tank modified would work, or an old
outboard motor portable gas tank (has a cap for emptying) would be OK too.

Could be powered with a shop vac. Been there, done that too.

Sandy
