[Vwdiesel] Grumpy starting (was How old is everyone?)

I drove a gasser Volvo around for a while that had a block heater... 
noticed the cord when I was doing spark plugs one time, and I swear I 
gawked at that for a solid ten minutes.

Why a 4-cylinder turbo gasser Volvo would have a block heater this far 
south, I will never understand... maybe it was a Canadian car 
originally? I understand their gassers can have block heaters too.
