Also a plausible sounding idea. I was thinking purely in terms of internal
mechanical design of the engine, and neglecting other perfectly good
explanations.
I do remember something about a drive cycle being one where the coolant temp
starts below some number. Then each drive cycle the computer would check
stuff and do adjustments to help it with it's learning process, or something
along those lines. I haven't had to troubleshoot TDI electronics for a
while, and I'm probably rusty. In fact, what I remember might be for some
other vehicle entirely.
