I'm 33. I remember when my Dad bought his first brand new car, a 1985 Jetta diesel. We still had a Dasher then, but the Jetta was cool because it was blue. We had a few more Dashers, one I wrecked because I came home for the weekend, took it out for a drive, and my Dad neglected to tell me the vacuum pump wasn't working. The first time I really had to use the brakes I rear-ended an Explorer. He drove away with no damage and was cool about it. I drove away but my hood was crunched-up. The first car I bought with my own money was a 1978 dirt brown Diesel Rabbit from Alaska. It was so noisy and the guy said the #3 injector was bad. I said that's OK I've got another and paid him $300. I replaced the injector, still not knowing anything about engine noises and about 1000 miles later at the very top of a big hill the engine just snapped. Rod through the block and black oil everywhere. That was OK too, I had another engine! Anyways, many cars have come and gone, mostly VW's - vr6 Passats and Rabbit Gti's are the best! I built a Baja Rabbit from a caged autocross Gti and put a turbo 1.6 from a Quantum in that. That turbo made the most beautiful sound! Just sold it last week because I don't have a place to park it anymore. Still got a Cummins Ram and a TDI Jetta though. It takes me a while to catch-up with these emails sometimes, but I have to say thanks! This is a great group of people and it's so fun to hear the stories and help-out when I can.
