Justin makes a very important point which could be a matter of life & death! In cold weather, dress warm enough so that you will remain warm enough so that if your car breaks down or you have an accident, you won't freeze to death. I'm sure you don't have to tell this to Canadians or Alaskans but people from warmer climates such as the East Coast, USA may benefit from this in view of the big blizzard they are now experiencing. I have never heard of or seen "Gill liner". I haven't tried it but suggestion of maintaining a small gap between the radiator & the cover makes since, just like storm windows have an air gap between the glass panes. As to that 110 volt electric car heater, I think I still have it stored "somewhere" as I removed it from my Citroen back in 1969 when I moved to Calif. Fortunately, I don't have to worry about these cold weather measurers since I now live in Calif. However, people in the eastern part of Nevada County (Truckee & around Lake Tahoe) do have to be concerned with these cold weather issues. My memories of Minn. cold weather are still vivid.
As an aside, for those of you who may think I live in Nevada, a little history lesson. Back around 1850, when Utah became a state, they had to re-name what was left of the Utah Territory. At that time due to the Gold Rush, the City of Nevada,CA., was the third largest city in Calif. Only San Francisco & Sacramento were larger. Because of its proximity to the left over Utah Territory, they re-named it Nevada, & the City of Nevada became Nevada City. Nevada County, CA also retained its name.
