[Vwdiesel] OT: Engine Rebuild Question

I know its off topic, but you guys seem to be the best experts I can ask...

I've got a '95 Jetta with the 2.0 engine. It appears to be seized, since I can't get it to turn over! The girl who eventually gave it to me said that she had checked the oil the night before it quit driving and it looked full. The next day it stopped, and took 3 quarts to top off. No large puddles were observed before or after adding the oil (so I kinda think she may have mis-read the dipstick).

Anyway, I was told by one mechanic that usually when an engine seizes due to lack of oil, the cam usually suffers first and is damaged. Because it was fairly easy to do, I pulled the intake and valve cover off tonight, but observed no galling/damage there.

So what I'm wondering is what to disassemble next and what to look for.

Any ideas? Anyone with a 2.0 gasser engine to sell?
