Any way to describe it better? Something dragging and something
thumping are way different sounds. My first thoughts, from a
thumping, would be a bad motor or tranny mount, but the shifter
should bounce with the sound if that's the case. Something thumping
in the clutch could inded either make something you could feel in the
shifter or the pedal, if you hold your foot lightly on it when it does it.
Dry CV joints or a bad one CAN thump, seems more likely to be an
inner doing that. Bad lower ball joint...
A dragging sound would be a lot different though. Cover plate
over the flywheel, something in a brake disk, something dropped in
the timing inspection hole, spring fall apart out of the clutch disk...
Try to isolate where and what it is, a little better if you can. :-)
    Loren
