  The drip is either from the timing advance lever or more likely sounds 
like it's from the o-ring between the cast iron, distributor and the 
aluminum pump body.  It IS DIY-able but you're probably looking at 
all the seals going soon.  :-(  
  The older pumps will interchange but the different "something" on 
the top of this pump is probably the boost aneroid that you're 
referring to.  It compensates the increased air supply (under boost) 
with more fuel.  A regular pump doesn't so you either don't get 
the full power benefit of a turbo or you have to set up the fueling 
and use your foot to regulate the extra fueling.
