You need a long bolt with the same threads as that 12mm head one in
the middle of the high pressure head of the injection pump. You put
that long threaded bolt in the pump and slowly tighten it as you
loosen the ones at the corners and that way it holds the cam plate and
rollers in place. If you don't do that then you'll end up with stuff
falling out of place inside and once that happens you're done and have
to disassemble it. (The whole thing doesn't have to come apart, but a
fair amount does. There are some tricky, but not horrible springs in
there.) I don't remember off hand what the threads on that bolt are,
but if you have no way of measuring I can track down the bolt I have
(I hope) and measure it. I don't use it very often, and I'm not sure
quite where it is, but I set it aside somewhere so it shouldn't take
much to find. If you have it vertical while doing this then I don't
think that the stuff inside would fall out of place, but I haven't
done it that way. But that's how I had to have mine sitting to get
everything back in place when reassembling everything. I took my pump
most of the way apart when I resealed it. Halfway for fun because I
wanted to check it out in there.
I've heard that hydraulic cylinder rebuilders have a huge selection of
things like those rings and can hook you up with them. I haven't done
it myself.
There's a good procedure online. I found it here:

Good luck!

From what I have gleaned from the seller, to replace the rear seal, you loosen the rear block from the IP, after removing the injection lines from the pump & injectors. You remove two bolts opposite each other & loosen the two others but leave them seated in the IP. You then remove the old "O" ring, then stretch the new one, after lubing it (diesel oil, motor oil, grease?) over rear block, insert the two removed & then remove the two reamining bolts to put the new seal in place. The vendor who sold me the seals suggested removing the IP so the rear of the IP faces upwards before doing this procedure. However, it appears to me that the way the procedure was described that the IP could be left in the Quantum, saving a good deal of time.

Any good simplified instructions for taking the pump apart & re sealing it?What special tools do I need? Also, is there any place where you can buy the rear "O" ring separately, for less?
