Hi Rudy;
I have a 1981 Diesel Dasher Wagon in pretty decent shape that I was
going to use as a daily driver. I am just about to get the papers on it. I
have had it for 6 months or so it belonged to a friend of a friend of mine.
He said it had a bad clutch but I drove it onto my car trailer and drove it
around a bit after I got it and it seems to not slip. It starts right up and
he was using it as a daily driver. I would be willing to part with it since
I have way too many projects. I have a good running 1981 Dasher diesel sedan
also that I'm about ready to have ready for sale.
I drive a 1981 Diesel Dasher station wagon that I have installed a
diesel Quantum 5 speed tranny. With a 5 speed tranny the Dasher wagon is
great. I have made trips to Texas with it and also Arizona. It gets 50 mpg
average on a trip if you run 60 to 65 mph. I have hit 68 mph with a booming
tail wind and 42 mpg when running into a bad head wind. If I run to
California and decide to run at 70 mph most of the time it is good for about
47 mpg.
I'm actually looking for an Audi 5 cyl turbo diesel engine to install in
a 1988 Audi 5000 Quattro station wagon I have. 100 horses rather than the
167 that the gas engine has would make it like running a N/A Dasher but the
full time 4 wheel drive for the winter, the extra room over a Dasher Wagon
and the creature comforts of the Audi would make it nice.
I live just a little ways off of I-5 at exit 63 here in WA. Probably
less that 150 miles from your residence in Everett.
