[Vwdiesel] More Quantum questions?

Started work on the Quantum but head not off yet. Got as far as removing the valve cover & intake manifold. The problem is getting at the lower exhaust manifold bolts (12 mm?, that is what the upper exhaust nuts are) & disconnecting the turbo from the exhaust manifold. Tried to loosen the 3 bolts that appear to hold the turbo to the exhaust manifold but did not attempt with a breaker bar, yet. Don't want to break anything.Suggestions? I did check the torque of the head bolts at 29 psi & 43 psi pre Bentley specs but did not try to tighten further. The specs call for 1/2 turn but didn't do that but noted the Bentley said these bolts could be reused. Was thinking if using the racing studs instead as they call for higher torque limits. Timing belt looked good & suspect work has been done on the engine as the valve cover nuts were loose. Could remove most without aid of a wrench.
