[Vwdiesel] new car to buy??

hey gang
so, with my dear Rabbit buried under 2' of snow in Boston, with its  
blown head gasket, its rusted underbody, its 2-month-out-of-date  
inspection sticker, its dysfunctional fuses (no horn, no reverse  
light), its missing door handles, its hanging doors, its bald ceiling,  
its ripped out dashboard, its bizarre-feeling and undrivable-by-anyone- 
but-me clutch, and notwithstanding its brand new wheel bearings  
(whoopee!), I am starting, guiltily, to think of greener pastures, and  
am casting furtive glances around at newer rigs, spurred, in part, by  
a week in a 2009 Prius rental
curious what's out there that's good or coming soon - I heard of Honda  
diesels due in 2009, but a quick Google shows that never happened(??)
what else is out there?
would love any suggestions
am pretending I have lots of money and can consider this seriously
