[Vwdiesel] Off diesel topic -possible converter clog symtoms

I doubt it's the cat conveters.
My son's 2500 pickup w/ 5.7L vortec and a problem where it would idle fine
but poor power but when it was under light load or less, you could hear it
'backfire' (not the right word)  down in the exhaust under the truck.
The problem; I wouldn't have believed if I hadn't been standing right there.

A fuse labeled IG1 in the fuse block under the hood had blown.

Or it might have a broken wire that is changing with heat, putting it in
'limp mode'.
