[Vwdiesel] Calif. diesel smog check comming

Warning! Diesels are coming into the Calif smog check next year (2010) which will cover 1998 & newer diesel cars & trucks. Those who have modified hopped up diesel pickups are going to be in a world of hurt. Don't know what this is going to do to diesels converted to run on waste vegetable oil. My guess is they won't pass smog. I don't know when they started putting OBD 2 computers but gas powered ones got them in 1996 & this is one of the things they check during a smog check.
Moral of this is if you don't want the hassle of the smog check which diesels were previously exempted from, buy a 1997 or older diesel. This probably applies to the 8 or so other states that copied the Calif Smog laws but this is just my guess.
