[Vwdiesel] One antenna solved!

  Since the Passat wagon is "easy" to get to, I pulled the antenna to 
see what was going on.  No ampflication apparently.  No power wire, 
just a pigtail with a funky push in connector.
  Where the tail bends inside the mounting stub, the insulation was 
broken. Since there shouldn't be any flexing or rubbing, I'd guess 
it was from original installation.  That seems to be where the static 
was coming from.  Not much I could do at the time other than shoot 
some WD into it and put it back nice and snug.  No noise!  :-)
  At least now I know (presume) it's not an ampflied antenna so a new 
one should be much cheaper.  Next to check Dad's.
