  It takes a long time to empty a can if you put in vapor like you're 
"supposed" to.  I never do.  Tip, back up, tip back up.  Goes a lot 
faster and easier than sticking the can in a bucket of hot water.
  Fast idle makes a huge difference in how fast it goes in too.  Age 
isn't so much a problem but "non-compressible" gasses or moisture 
is and can make the system slow.  Connecting high and low gauges 
is about the only way to tell some problems.  
  Generally, if the cooling fan kicks onto high, on roughly a 90F day, 
you have the right amount of freon, if all else is right.
