But there's the point of diminishing returns. That's the key we
don't really know. Same pickup, different engine had the wrong
head gasket and compression was about 750lbs after it broke in.
As it broke in (compression goes up) the power went down even
after turning the pump up a little. It actually got less power and
smoked more. New/good injectors, new rings, rebuilt head, etc.
Higher compression makes more power and efficiency in a gasser
because they're so far below the most efficient CR. I read about a
project diesel where they took a big Wakushaw diesel and put
variable CR pistons in it. Economy and power went way up.
