Yep, I second that.
Have you had the top levers off the pump? Not putting them on right can do
some odd things, but smoke AND not wanting to run isn't one that comes to
mind.  Smoke and not wanting to keep running does point to 180 off on
timing- the fuel just gets burned as it sloshes around in the cylinder,
there's not much atomization to keep the fire lit.  Check oil for dilution
as well if you've ran it much.
